The great harvest festival of Nepal, Dashain is a time For family reunions, exchange of gifts and blessings, and elaborate pujas. Dashain is celebrated as the Symbol of victory of virtue or truth over sin or Falsity. According to Hindu Mythology, the Dashain Festival has been celebrated since Lord Ram and Goddess Durga had gotten the victory over Ravax and demons respectively. Durga is worshipped as the goddess of strength. The festival starts from Ghatasthapana and ends at vijaya Dashami. On Ghatasthapana, people sow rice and barley seede on the pious corner of their house to grow seedlings called Navaratsu. The goddess Durga is worshipped during this period.
